HERE COMES THE POPE
It has been an interesting few days with the media coverage of the Papal visit. Abuse claims, celibacy debates and expensive security costs have all kept the news ticking over nicely with stories.
The best moments I have seen so far were two separate incidents this morning. The first involved the ‘Nothing Compares to You’ singer Sinead O’Connor appearing on Sky News. Talking about abuse claims and calling for the higher echelons of the Vatican to accept there was a cover up over abuse claims and for them to step down. However it was at the end of her interview, which really caught my attention. She says: “The Queen has to wear black when she is present with the Pope as she is not a Catholic Queen so does that mean the Pope will be stark b*****k naked because the Emperor actually has no clothes.” Indeed ‘food for thought’, as Dermot Monaghan replied.
The second incident involves a very interesting quote from Adrian Chiles on Daybreak regarding the personality of Pope Benedict XVI. ‘I am a lovely person, but sometimes I don’t show it, how will the Pope show that he is lovely?’ Interesting Adrian, comparing yourself to the Pope! I am sure many will find his sermons inspiring and uplifting and as a result they may think he is lovely. Who knows!
